I loved this stand alone book by Lisa Scottoline! Alernately told by Dr. Noah Alderman who is on trial for murdering his step daughter beginning with Day 10 of his trial (and then working backward in time with his wife, Maggie, being contacted by the daughter taken away from her when she was an infant. There was mystery, angst, and lying as well as just not mentioning a lot. I loved their romance and life with Caleb, Noah's son who has a speaking disability. Recommended!

Cormac's girlfriend Emma discovers a murdered girl (hit and run) as she leaves her lab; calling Cormac immediately, he discovers a grisly murder that he should not investigate due to his relationship with Emma. The murdered girl has an ID on her misidentifying her as Carline Darcy, heir to the Darcy Labs (where Emma works). Once again awesomely narrated by Aoife McMahon, I could not stop listening as the murder investigation spins out of control. I did love Peter Fisher and Carrie, the invesigators. All the other Garda were awful, they don't like Cormac, they spread rumors about him, and even the boss always seems to be setting Cormac up...a solid psychological thriller. Jumping onto the 3rd and maybe the last? (I hope not).

OMG I loved listening to this audiobook from Audible, awesomely narrated by: Aoife McMahon I loved the pacing, the plot, the characters, and narration of this Cormac Reilly detective novel. Taking place in Ireland, as a young detective Cormac was the arriving officer at a decrepit, difficult to find home. He was met at the door by a young girl, there was no heat, no electric and a young boy reading. The young girl, Maude, takes him upstairs where he is astounded to find their mother, dead and she has been there for some time. Even though her death is eerie, it is the 2 children who have definitely been abused that haunt Cormac. Twenty years later, the little boy (Jack) has been found in the woods, while it is ruled suicide, his girlfriend and also his sister, Maude, do not believe Jack killed himself. I could not stop listening to this taut investigative mystery, with Cormac battling his boss in his new job (he took it because his girlfriend takes a job). I can't wait to read the 2nd book in the series, The Scholar!

This prequel in the Cormac Reilly series was awesomely narrated by Aoife McMahon. Two sisters, One a Lawyer (barrister) and one with the police (the Guarda)and pulled me in so much that I have listened to all books in this series, Cormac Reilly, and am on the final book (so far) and along with Aoife McMahon's great narration, the mystery of the sisters, the police department and the law firm were riveting. I could not stop listening to Carrie and Aifric's story and the resolution was terrific! On to the next in this series, The Roommate.

I loved this 8th book in the Tracy Crosswhite series; Tracy is returning to work but finds her nemesis boss has taken her beloved job in Violent Crimes and given it to someone else. Instead she must take the Cold Case job since the one investigator is retiring. Moving at a fast pace; Dugoni does it again with psychological suspense as Tracy works 3 cold cases and one violent crime case. I could not stop turning the pages as Tracy tries to find a small child who disappeared in a Halloween patch 5 years ago and 2 prostitutes who mysteriously disappeared without a trace. Kins, her 0ld partner, pulls her into the missing person, Stephanie Cole, a jogger who disappears on a running trail. I have read and continue to love every single Dugoni book; this one was exciting, sad, and rip roaring fast; a must read!

The 2nd Mickey Bolitar book is a fast-paced mystery involving the shooting of Mickey's new romantic interest, Rachel and her the killing of her mother. As Mickey tries to visit her in the hospital with his friends providing a diversion, he finds her in her room, but must quickly hide because the sheriff is coming to question her. Mickey goes to Bat Lady in her haunted house to try to get some answers and he is further confused to find out the man from the ambulance when his father died was not part of the ambulance crew, but someone known as the Butcher. This someone also resembles a man who killed many children during the holocaust, but how can that be the same man? As a sophomore, Mickey is excited about trying out for the basketball team and hoping to make JV. But as Mickey digs deeper, he and his friends are at risk of being injured. It is only with his solo trip to the Bat Lady's house, finding someone in the house, seeing the halls filled with pictures of children during the Holocaust and also children who are missing now, and a fiery blaze that pushes him out of the house, that Mickey realizes there is much more at work than he realizes. He doesn't feel he can confide in anyone really, even his uncle. The mystery continues to deepen, I was so involved in the story, I did not want it to end. I was not very happy with the ending, Harlan Coben just didn't leave you hanging the way her did in the first book, Shelter. But I will read the 3rd book and hope the ending is a cliff hanger, like the first.
