Chain of Gold (The Last Hours, #1) by Cassandra Clare

Chain of Gold (The Last Hours, #1)Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the audio narration of this latest new series awesomely narrated by Finty Williams but my major peeve with the plotline was the Grace-William debacle (spoiler alert) and the fact that it continued for the whole book really irritated me profoundly. Since when do these awesome ShadowHunters not notice something wrong the whole book!!! Not one of those awesome characters like Will, Tessa, Cordelia, Lucy, Jesse, Christopher, Matthew and James questions the bracelet on James' arm (how he changes when it is on and when he no longer wears it) and Grace is just so creepy all the time. So no, I do not think during this time of Covid will I pursue this series; there needs to be more to hope for in this series and Grace needs to be gone as a character!

The Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices #2) by Cassandra Clare

Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices, #2)Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As this series continues I am enthralled by Julian's love for his family and Emma. his parabatai. Their world of Shadowhunters, downworlders, Nephilim just continue to grip me as their world is plunged toward war because of Cold Peace rancor. I love the introduction of new and different characters - Kit and Mark, Christina and Hymie, Annabelle and Diana- so much is going on but they (Jules and Emma) continue to try to solve their problem... and keep the secrets of their world from the Clave and others who would judge them. Cassandra Clare's characters and worlds are multi-layered, deep and authentic. Can't wait for the next book in the series because I was crushed by the ending in this book.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1)Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I always love Cassandra Clare's books about Shadow Hunters and this Midnight Lady certainly did not disappoint! Julian's family tore my heart apart and I loved Emma and Julian's parabati relationship. I did not like the Clave and their rules and laws; and I know this thread will continue through the next 2 books and I hope for change. There was mystery and drop dead action as Emma and Julian's family secretly help her investigate the murder of Emma's parents. The world building was once again glorious, beautiful and lush. I can't wait for the next book in the series!!!
