Rent a Boyfriend by Gloria Chao

Rent a BoyfriendRent a Boyfriend by Gloria Chao
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed Chloe and Drew's fake relationship as she brings him home for the holidays. The reader can understand why this happens; Chloe's parents' expectations are ludicrous! No wonder she can't be herself. The inner conflicts of Chloe and Drew are totally understandable and I rooted for them. Recommended!

Iron Flame (Empyrean, #2) by Rebecca Yarros

Iron Flame (The Empyrean, #2)Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG did I love both Fourth Wing and Iron Flame!!! I became thoroughly invested in Violet and Xaden's story because after all they are the main focus in both books besides all the other tings going on in the plot. Without revealing anything about the ending; I am a reader who really enjoys redemptive endings. Xaden and Violet have had many ups and downs in their relationship (& in their lives)---I beg Rebecca Yarros to really think about the 3rd book in the series and Violet & Xaden's love. Please write a redemptive book that gives hope...Yes, these books were violent, yes there are many evil characters, but write some kind of magic that will give Violet & Xaden a lasting relationship with their dragons that is not about killing but finding the truth.

Fourth Wing (The Empyrean, #1) by Rebecca Yarros

Fourth Wing (The Empyrean, #1)Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thank you to Donna Gola for her enthusiastic recommendation of this book! I could not stop reading about Violet's world, the dragons, her friends/riders (enemies too) in the Fourth Wing. Yarros did a wonderful world building, descriptions of Basgiath War College and the trials Violet & the other cadets must endure (many die) to stay alive and become riders. Violet is the daughter of the Commander so she already has a strike against her- she has brittle bones & is considered "frail" so why would her mother force her to become a rider rather than a scribe? This book will grab you from page 1, it is a very satisfying must read---and did I almost forgot about ruthless handsome Xaden Riosen, who also hates her? Get comfy and start reading this scintillating fantasy of dragons, lies, love, and friendship!

Things We Left Behind (Knockemout, #3)Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this 3rd in the Knockemout was awesome- Lucian and Sloane have been staying away from each other whenever they are together, due to what happened to her when she was younger. As the story unravels and we learn more and more about Lucian and Sloane, the reader is drawn into this steamy romance with lots of mystery, lies and secrets!

I loved this sizzling story about Remi returning home to her beloved family with a really big secret that will endanger anyone Remi cares about. I loved Brick and his big awesome body that knows something is wrong with Remi (the girl he can never have...) and will stop at nothing to protect her. Will Remi & Brick find each other??? Such a great romance!

But Sydney has also been listening on her balcony to a mystery man who plays beautiful music. This mystery man, Ridge, has seen the cheating, and he also is the one who rescues her. Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and TomorrowTomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I was a HS librarian, I loved Gabrielle Zevins books and this adult/new adult book was awesome. Sadie meets Sam in a hospital as a teen, and they bond over video games as he recuperates after being hit by a car. This story follows them throughout their life as they graduate from high school and college and enter the world of business- which to them is a partnership in creating video games. But their friendship is fraught with things that are never said - and this kind of bothered me. But their story kept me turning the pages and it will keep you too. You do not have to be a gamer to enjoy this book---it is life and all the drama that comes with friendship, being partners in business, families, and things that are never said.

A Light in the Flame (Flesh and Fire, #2)A Light in the Flame by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This 2nd in the Flesh and Fire series was scorching hot! I fell in love with Nyktos & Sera AGAIN as they navigate their friendship, their passion (Nyktos can't love) and their staunch support of each other and their kingdom(s) as this fantasy unfolds. As always, the characters, the plot, and the setting had me turning those pages, I can't wait for the 3rd book! Highly recommended!

A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone

A Merry Little Meet CuteA Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read this jolly romance just after finishing listening to Julia Whelan's Thank You for Listening and just as I loved the madcap romp romance in Julia's book so did I love the hysterical plot of plus size Bee (porn star) now a real star cast in a Family Channel Christmas romance with none other than her teen crush, rock star Nolan Shaw! I loved both characters' personalities--they were real people with real problems- Nolan was a bad boy rock star and now his family has medical problems he wants to keep quiet and use $$$ from this movie to pay the exorbitant medical bills while Bee must not let anyone who she is, but surprise surprise---Nolan knows who she is (and he is an avid fan with a crush) and I was sucked right into this great romance with lots of laughs and oh so much chemistry! I want more of Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone collaborations!

A Glorious and Devilish Expanse (Witches if the Isnad, #3) by Katie McGarry

A Glorious and Devilish Expanse (Witches of the Island, #3)A Glorious and Devilish Expanse by Katie McGarry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this series so much and the 3rd installment had me in so much suspense! The story of Orion & Cassie continues but his malevolent mother has plans that include killing her son, killing Cassie, and killing anyone who is in her way in her to "save" her son. I loved the plot, the characters, and oh the ending was perfect and I was chuckling as I read about Moloch and his charge in the "human world"
As Cassie and Orion battle all that is evil, I rooted they find each other and save the worlds. Totally awesome!

The War of Two Queens (Blood and Ash, #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The War of Two Queens (Blood And Ash, #4)The War of Two Queens by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This 4th in the Blood and Ash series has Poppy and her team (Cas, Kieran, etc) was tough for me to read at times. We live in such a chaotic world now and the separation of Poppy and Casteel really upset me. Her evil mother made me sick and made me lose hope...which normally JLA's book do not do, but Cas' time in prison was entirely TOO LONG...many times I wanted to put this book down, but I do LOVE JLA's books so much so I continued. I love the interactions between Cas and Poppy, the draken, the wolves! I love the way the characters give their all for the good of the Kingdom and am looking forward to the next book because the foretellings, the destruction, the realms all have to be answered.

The Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

Firekeeper's DaughterFirekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This audiobook & the story WERE SO GOOD! Awesomely narrated by Isabella Star LaBlanc, this reader was treated to an awesome story, a kick-ass heroine, and immersed in the Ojibwe tribe which Daunis is not a member of (yet). When her best friend is murdered by her boyfriend who then takes his life, Daunis is asked to go undercover by the FBI to find out who is responsible for meth production in the tribe---and oh does she get involved in so much more than that. She is partnered with an FBI agent posing as a high school hockey player. I was glued to the story, the history, the traditions in the community and hockey teams. I highly recommend this suspenseful story; it offers a look into Native beliefs, practices, and traditions in this amazing must read story.

Repeat (The Larson Brothers #1) by Kylie Scott

RepeatRepeat by Kylie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This audiobook was converted into a book which I totally enjoyed as part of the Larsen Brothers series. this book will be enjoyed by adults as well as new adults. Clementine has been attacked and has no memory of her relationship with tattoo artist; as she tries to find out information--she is met with anger by Ed and all of his employees because she is the reason they broke up. When she tells Ed she has no memory of their relationship and she would really like answers; almost everyone warns her away from Ed (even her cop sister!) and it is up to the new Clementine to ask the questions - what will happen to Clementine as she realizes she is falling for Ed as the new person she is. I could not stop reading this romance but even more the mystery aspect-- is someone after her?

Grace and Glory (The Harbinger, #3) byt Jennifer L. Armentrout

Grace and Glory (The Harbinger, #3)Grace and Glory by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh did I love the relationship between Trin & Zayne; they were so there for each other, always and all the time and deeply. Most important is getting rid of the Harbinger BUT Trin cannot accept Zayne's death & when he FALLS for her and returns as a Fallen Angel, Zayne is harsh and wants to kill demons and hurts and threatens Trin as well---but when she kisses this Fallen Angel to see if Zayne is inside, SHE DOES know he is still in there and she goes to the Crone to get the old Zayne back. Only wanting Zayne, she doesn't care about the danger...and when she gets him back----OMG I loved their deep attachment and love for one another---but now the real getting down to business and going after Gabriel----I loved seeing Roth and Layla, Cayman, Bambi and Thumper and their bringing Lucifer into the mix to take down Gabriel. There was suspense, excitement, fingers crossed but I LOVED this series so much!

Every Last Breath (Dark Elements, #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Every Last Breath (The Dark Elements, #3)Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The final book in The Dark Elements series awesomely narrated by: Saskia Maarleveld was awesome! Layla must decide between Roth or Zayne before the world is destroyed by the Lillin who happens to be Layla's brother (she found out her mother was Lilith and Warden Elijah was her father) and he has been haunting her high school. I could not stop listening to this nail biter! Layla, Zayne and Roth along with Stacey and Sam are in the evil sight of the Lilin. All the while Layla has thought that she was 1/2 demon and 1/2 human she now finds she is something else! This book was haunting because so many bad things happened and in trying to save the world, save Layla when she was injured, and save Sam, ---deals are struck and consequences are devastating. LOVED this series so much!!!

This is the 2nd book after Dirty Little Secret in the Forbidden Desires series and continues with Emma and Gavin's relationship, Emma learning about Gavin's past love, Cooper leaving the company, Forbidden Desires, and someone threatening Emma. I really enjoyed this book---Emma and Gavin are in sync, definitely bonded to each other, listening, loving and caring for each other.
