Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas

Cemetery BoysCemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG! I loved this book! If you have read Daniel Jose Older's fantastic Shadowshaper series and Zoraida Cordova's awesome Brooklyn Brujas series, you will LOVE this book! the difference is it takes place in Los Angeles and involves a transgender boy, Yadriel and his best friend, Maritza, as they try to find out who killed cousin Miguel, how to deal with Yads and his mistaken summoning of Julian and most importantly prove to his father (and everyone else), the head of the community of brujas and brujos, that Yads should be recognized as a brujo and accepted by the brujx community (practicing brujx with powers to heal and speak to spirit/ghosts) . I could not put down Aiden Thomas' beautiful book with bigger than life relatable characters, themes of friendship, the importance of family and the rich Latinx culture. Superb, a rewarding must read!

The Queen (A Wicked Trilogy #3.7) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Queen (A Wicked Trilogy #3.7)The Queen by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this final book in the Wicked Trilogy! Brighton and Caden are growing closer but at what cost. Brighton finds it much more difficult to just believe they should be together; while Caden wants Brighton, will protect her at any cost, and bestows "things" on her that should make her believe she is meant to be his queen; but will Brighton herself settle into her role? I loved all 3 books in this novella trilogy; a great romance, mystery and drama--this is what Jennifer L. Armentrout excels in!

Rage and Ruin (The Harbinger #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Rage and Ruin (The Harbinger, #2)Rage and Ruin by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh did I love this 2nd book in The Harbinger Series; the heart stopping romance of Trinity and Zayne and also Layla and Roth were beautiful in their loyalty to one another. Armentrout's book was a lengthy 608 pages but I loved every word about the Wardens and Trueborns, ghosts, angels, demons, and the Harbinger killings and the plan for ending the world's domination. As the killings increased and the Harbinger was unidentified, I could not stop turning the pages. The paranormal fantasy and action and adventure make this a must read and talk about an ending!!! It will kill me to wait until the next book in the series is written and right now there is no book title, making me very sad! But I will wait patiently and read every book she writes both YA and adult!

From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer L. Arementrout

From Blood and AshFrom Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really really really liked this new Jennifer L. Armentrout new adult paranormal fantasy series----in large part because of the two main characters, Poppy and Hawke. Poppy is strong, fierce, funny, yet trapped in her world as the Chosen Maiden. Her guard Vikter was badass too---from a young age he has taught Poppy how to defend herself and she wears a wolven blade he gave her on her leg. Even though Vikter chastises her; he allows Poppy to accompany him when people/soldiers have been attacked by the Craven. She has a gift which few know about. What really turned me off at the beginning was the evil Duke and his friend, Duke Mateen. With this pandemic, awful evil things bother me and I have to stop reading...but when I picked back up and continued on I was happy when Hawke becomes Poppy's Guard. He is boldly and sexily says anything to Poppy; he encourages her to fight against submitting to all her lot in life has in store for her. I was shocked when "things" changed for Poppy (her world, the Descenters, the Asended, etc.) and all she knew changes. The ending was a huge surprise and I can't wait for the 2nd book in this series. Armentrout know how to write steamy novels; I also loved her world building in this book; the fantasy was terrific and the depth and breadth of Poppy and Hawke's relationship was steamworthy!

The Shadowshaper Legacy (Shadowshaper, #3) by Daniel Jose Older

Shadowshaper Legacy (Shadowshaper, #3)Shadowshaper Legacy by Daniel José Older
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this series so much and this 3rd book did not disappoint! Sierra has so much going on as the Lucera, in charge of all things in her world of Shadowshaping, while her brother and boyfriend and another girlfriend, Izzy are in jail. This book also takes the reader and Sierra back to the history (her history) in the world of the Shadowshapers. I could not stop turning the pages as all hell breaks loose, betrayers try to take over and Sierra's control of the Deck of Worlds Cards. Hang on to the edge of your seat for the past colliding with the present. I loved the author's word choice, his world building, the good vs bad fight---if you have not read this series---you must NOW because this is the final thrilling book in the series!!!

The Burning Shadow (Origin #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Burning Shadow (Origin, #2)The Burning Shadow by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG I could not stop reading this book!!! Jennifer L. Armentrout's 2nd Origin book was such a heart stopping mystery and thriller---just like all of her books! Evie really doesn't know who she is, her memories of being someone else will just happen and when she and Luc, the Darkest Star Origin get together, there is always anger, passion, questions, and answers that defy description. The ending is OMG, I just can't believe it---if you love urban fantasy and paranormal romance, this book and the series is the BEST! I can't wait for the final book, it is going to kill me...
